« Sisowath Quay » received the Jury at Siam Anima. The festival is held in Bangkok, Thailand, the country from which the creature that inspired us for the film (ahp in Khmer or krasue in Thai) originated. We are all the more delighted that the prize was awarded by Sompot Chidgasornpongse, a talented Thai filmmaker and long-time collaborator of Apichatpong Weerasethakul. His films have been screened at major festivals including Rotterdam, Oberhausen, Visions du Réel, Berlinale…
« Quai Sisowath » a remporté le prix du Jury à Siam Anima. Le festival se tient à Bangkok en Thaïlande, pays duquel est issu la créature dont nous nous sommes inspirés pour le film (ahp en Khmer ou krasue en Thaï). Nous sommes d’autant plus heureux que le prix a été decerné par Sompot Chidgasornpongse, talentueux cinéaste thaïlandais et collaborateur de longue date d’Apichatpong Weerasethakul. « Sisowath Quay » received the Børge Ring Award for the best animated film at Odense Film festival. After the Grand Prix Anima in February, this is a second Oscar-qualifying award for the film, which is having a very nice festival tour. We are very happy 🙂
Here are the motivations of the jury : « The Best Animation Award goes to a film that threw us headfirst into a painterly universe both warm and hostile at once. With storytelling twisted so tight it felt claustrophobic, it pulled us deep into the characters from the first frame to the last.Gory folklore merging with filthy contemporary affected us both emotionally and viscerally – all the way through to an ending that was heartbreakingly satisfying and still open enough to have left us talking about it for days. «
« Quai Sisowath » a remporté le prix Børge Ring du meilleur film d’animation au Odense Film Festival. Après le Grand Prix Anima en Février, c’est un second Prix qualifiant pour les Oscar pour le film qui connait une très belle carrière en festivals. On est très heureux 🙂
Voilà le texte de motivation du jury : « Le prix du meilleur film d’animation récompense un film qui nous a plongés tête la première dans un univers pictural à la fois chaleureux et hostile. Avec sa narration si serrée qu’elle créé une sensation de claustrophobie, il nous a transporté dans les personnages du premier au dernier plan. Le mélange entre folklore sanglant et contemporanéité crasseuse nous a touchés émotionnellement et viscéralement, jusqu’à une fin à la fois déchirante et profondément satisfaisante, tout en restant suffisamment ouverte pour que nous en parlions encore des jours durant. »
« Sisowath Quay » received a special distinction of the jury at Insomnia festival in Russia. Insomnia Festival is a truly independent (non-governmental) animation festival held in the Kaluga region in the Russian countryside (200 km from Moscow). Insomnia est un festival d’animation totalement indépendant (non-gouvernemental) qui se tient dans la région de Kalouga, dans la campagne russe (à 200 km de Moscou). Here’s the statement of the jury : « This experimental piece boldly combines puppet theater and horror, moving beyond traditional animation. It was commended as « a work that daringly expands the expressive realm of animation, » presenting new possibilities for imaginative genre blending. »

Voilà la déclaration du jury : » Cette œuvre expérimentale allie avec audace théâtre de marionnettes et horreur, allant au delà de l’animation traditionnelle. Voici l’introduction de l’article : « Dans Quai Sisowath, Stéphanie Lansaque et François Leroy livrent un court métrage aussi captivant que dérangeant, qui mêle habilement réalisme social, conte folklorique et esthétique pop rétro.
